"Car 2, can you clear?" - "No! I'm in booking" - 1984

Looks like 1979 - the exact way I remember everyone when I first came on. (courtesy of James Battisto)

A motley 70's crew. I hate the 70's. (So does Gerry Murphy by the looks of it)

swiped from Kevin Hayes facebook post!

Will insert if someone has them to send. Can be any size, I'll adjust it to fit.

- BPD PISTOL TEAM PHOTOS -

From the Charlie Miller collection: Great photo of the pistol team - unsure of the date, looks like 70's. Digitally restored.
Bristol had a hard to beat team, taking trophies all over the state.
L-R: Astolfi, Quilter, Moskowitz, Killiany, Lysaght, Miller, Kerr, Cote

Another great pistol team photo in another series. Undefeated in 84!  This would be worth tracking down an original photo.  Luckily for now we have this press scan.           (courtesy Ray Kerr)

This is probably the best composed version in the series.  Still looking for a good original..

I saw this somewhere on the net and swiped it! - from facebook I think. Tom Thayer and the youngsters!

A stunning scan of a 4x5 negative. Commonly referred to as the "Throw N' Go" ambulance, there were 2 zone cars that doubled as ambulances. From the time a call was received to the time the patient was at the ER was often 4 to 6 minutes or less total. Ask the old timers if you think it's an exaggeration. It's not! I guess what makes this photo especially interesting is that until I scanned it I'd never seen such a sight! What a crasher.

Shouldn't get in the way of one of the aforementioned ambulances on the way to a call. This was a Giola/Taylor
smashup both R-1 on N Main/Center and the cars are shown here in Chamberlain's garage lot (now the convenience store Rt 6 @ Burlington).

(below) Found within a rare 8mm film just made available, the new car 4 ambulance replacement is shown.
-note updated siren/horn.  See Film section for more about this recent exhibit

A pieced together newspaper scan makes an nice display.  Kirsch with hair!, who knew!

I remember Killiany looking just like that when we first met. He responded to the ER on a gunshot complaint  (ME)...shot in the head
with a BB gun by a friend (kids).. He said, You think this is funny?, I said, yeah, actually I do. He was not amused. Taylor was probably dispatching.

Ask Spyros about this one. A true live action/rescue shot. Back in the days when the press reporters and
photographers were always right on the scene as the story unfolded.

A Nice 4x5 Negative scan of Leon (Legs) Galske and Carl Suchodolski being promoted

Scanned B/W photo of Bob Metayer '78.  This was an ambulance / zone car.
These cars had an iridescent blue and white paint scheme that really made them stand out in traffic

(from the Metayer photo library!- We hope to post a collection here eventually)

Submitted scan of Conn State Police cruiser - 1978 Ford LTD.
Trivia: The 2 rear facing blue strobes were the brightest ever made by Whelen
(that record still stands). They were  made exclusively for the Conn. State Police.

A huge luxury car. This was one of the biggest in the fleet. Nice smooth ride, powerful gas guzzling 4 barrel carb engine and it sat lower to the ground than any other. This model was very short lived, proved impractical and expensive to maintain. (Not the best car to patrol Pine Lake woods with but it had a nice presence)... Shown here in my driveway in 1980

AND THE DASH....

Chaz-man back in 1997  often confused with dirty harry... I think...
As noted by Kevin Mellon on Facebook, "... he's lost both the cigarettes and the hair!"

(below) Taken the same time as the crime van photo (1997) at the south door-- by myself, for web page

Mid 90's..

The gang!   A fine looking bunch from who knows when...

Ptlm Klimek, 1949. Candid photographer shot. This is a scan of discarded 8x10 photo. (fished from the trash)
The folder contained several shots of an accident scene at the West End.

1949

color negative scan, John Reilly Benefit, Both looking like movie stars; John and Russ Marcham give press interviews.

Scan of an old discarded photo.   Wow! -- look at these guys. I remember all of them.

Astolfi (Fricker), Donaghy (Dogbones), [always telling someone to relax], Stange (Stinger), [always wanting a 10-7], Smith (Smitty),
and Chief Meade (Suspend first, ask questions later).  Worked for Smitty 2nd shift A Grp as both a Lt and Sgt, in that order -- don't ask. We got along well.
Dogbones once yelled for 15 minutes as I drove out of the basement. I was behind Louie, who had just peeled around
the corner with a Chrysler Tank of a thing, and ripped off the side molding on the cement wall, and screeched out the exit. I was right behind him and all
the ruckus was attributed to me. I was the new guy and a wisemouth so that's the way it went. Chrome laying on the ground.. whatever Louie!  Haaa!

Hey! - The scooter--  from a Polaroid taken myself, figured someday it would be a curiosity. A standard shifting 45 HP wonder.
Pretty much hated the thing but it beat walking Forestville. This was the pre-bike patrol beat vehicle.
The basement in this shot was only a year or so old, no dust yet.

(BELOW) A series of scanned negatives of a cruiser accident, Burlington @ Ingraham

On an accident roll here.... Tessman and Zuke look on attentively at Hines' smash up. Coaching/counseling, no doubt. (What's with the K-Car, what were they thinking) Location: current Staples lot, Mix St. (Ferarro's then) Bonnies Cafe/Coppermine- rear right and hourglass cleaners to left.

Remember LaMonico's?  One of my favorite places. Best pizza/chicken cacciatore anywhere.
Seen here from the the Dunkin Donuts window. The girls used to snap photos of every cop that pulled up to the
window. Imagine the booklet they could make? But of course these things got tossed after 6 months. One of them gave
me thisphoto and said bring this guy back here to me now. Haaa! MAC!

A great classic photo from 1987 that made front pages. Looking badass, you guys.
L-R   Daly, Leone, Battisto, Bad Guy, Coyle, Astolfi

Brachum, as we called them. A favorite pic. Duke had some timing issues with
the overhead door and these guys couldn't be happier. meh'.. no action, defective photosensor.

Duke (probably later that night)... A classic photo that speaks for itself.
