See anything strange?

"to protect and to serve"   - The original LAPD slogan continues to be misquoted.  I've had reports kicked back for less.

THE PATCH

An evolution.  That square patch, with the tab? What were they thinking. It was bland, poorly made and uninspiring for it's 6 year run. The tab at the bottom coincided with the portion of land that Lake Compounce occupies on what was once part of Southington. More often it was considered a pull-tab by criminals.
Redesign to the current day patch took place in Training Lt's office. In 1986 Lt DiVenere, Peter Barton and David Carello worked on it jointly to come up with a masterpiece. At the time of the square patch and before it the half moon, the American flag was worn on the right shoulder and patch on left. The push was for a 2 patch arrangement but no one wanted the flag gone thus the inclusive design was born. It featured the American flag on the left, state flag on the right, city seal in the middle and an eagle encompassing everything from the top. Nice job.

More on patch history, origins, designs and examples to be posted at a later time.

This is an oldie. You should recognize one of them.

"cartoon" postings used to be a regular thing.. had to be there to understand this one.. (haa!)

The BPD Retirees version of a Sgt. Pepper album cover --here's a group of some retirees then/now.
The longer they've been retired the more interesting. I sourced older versions where I could.
