Designed for a desktop or laptop, this site may be viewed on a smartphone but alignments and sizes may be off. (helps to hold phone in landscape mode) Navigation is via the top menu bar/categories. Multiple pages are linked from there. Some of the best material posted started with a simple email. No matter how small or large it can be posted here. Click contact to drop me a line, I'll get it on here. *Disable adblocker for this site as it could interfere with its operation.

About Archives Central Repository

Unique central location for historical photos, radio/phone recordings, articles, and other BPD related items not available elsewhere. Emphasis on vintage and rare items. Current or recent material?.. That's already out there and on the city website and regularly on facebook so you won't see day to day items here but there will be some exceptions.. Much early history was lost or discarded over the years especially prior to the digital age. Most is in the hands of retirees and relatives and will eventually be thrown out. Some of the photos here were literally thrown out by the police department (and fished from the trash dumpster at curbside during renovations). What about Facebook? The random unorganized nature of facebook doesn't make a fit for this type of presentation and not everyone uses FB.

On the radio section you'll find one of a kind recordings going back 40+ years! No other such recordings are known to exist. (or do they?) Someone has something out there of course but it needs to make its way here to be heard. Audio of any kind, film, Photos, scans, articles, slides are welcome. I can transcribe from any format onto digital and gladly return the originals.

***When this site goes offline in the future (along with me), the history in it will be gone. Anyone interested, that has abilities for websites, feel free to mirror this site so it's contents can carry forward.  -- it can be copied/saved/shared by anyone. If good at it, you already know.

Cover Photo: (courtesy Pat Zipp) Looking like a magazine cover -- Officers Caputo, Lazaroski, and Gerry Murphy, 1960's in front of the Old N Main St. PD. Not only is that building gone, so is the street. It used to flow around to the rear of the mall property and connect just south of the underpass.

Have something for the site?  Don't be shy so it doesn't die with you!    email (recommended)  or facebook

Technical Information: This site was created with Microsoft FrontPage 2003. FP-2003 was the best and final Edition. Although discontinued it is still obtainable on ebay, or free from me and remains a favorite of many website creators. I suggest using this same software if interested in a creating a mirror site. If you do of course you can tweak and tailor it to your own tastes. It is by far the easiest and most logical software to use. Much like MS-Word. Other software may cause one to give up quickly. Drag n drop images and begin typing, its that easy. Unless you are corporate with complicated forms graphs and dropdown boxes there is no need for other software. Dreamweaver for example is near impossible to use, unless it's your career.

Publishing: As of this writing x10host.com is hosting this site. x10host.com offers Free basic accounts such as this one. Yes, Free. It uses the FTP file transfer protocol which is easily managed within FrontPage's own publishing manager. Initial setup could be a small challenge but once done it's all automatic from there on. I can assist you with it. No other software needed and no need for their "site building software" which is not nearly as flexible or easy to use and I recommend against it.

FrontPage Extensions:  Something called FrontPage "Extensions" are not used here nor are they needed. The only advantage is live remote publishing. The most common reason others bash FrontPage is many providers no longer support FP extensions but as noted, it makes no difference to a site like this and I consider this site plenty advanced with integrated sound players on the audio page for example. I've also opted for the "old school" look and feel of the site vs the new Windows 11 or Apple or Word Press feel with large sliding overlaid flat graphics and slideshow photo "viewers". Don't care for them. They aren't very customizable.  --
